Hello! My name is Molly and I am 22 years old. I was just diagnosed this week with uterine didelpys. I started having gynecological exams at age 16, but no one ever caught it. I have a partial vaginal septum, double cervis, and double uterus. I had several ultrasounds done because I was having severe cramping. The results from those ultrasounds were only that I may have had ovarian cysts.I was sent to a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic disorders. She said the pain during sex and tampon use was caused by 'vaginismus' and had me complete four months of therapy, which did no good.

I switched doctors this summer when I decided to get Mirena, the IUD. When my doctor tried to insert the Mirena, he noticed my vaginal septum and he noticed I had two cervices. Of course, I could not get the Mirena and I was sent to have a pelvic ultrasound, which showed that I either had a septate uterus or uterine didelphys. I then had a hysterosalpingogram, which basically showed the same thing. The radiologist actually told me I had a completely septated uterus, but my doctor looked at the report and is convinced that is is uterine didelphys. I am slightly confused at why the two doctors disagree on the diagnosis, but my doctor consulted several specialists who agree with him.

Right now, I am considering surgery to remove my vaginal septum. I hope to have children within the next 3 years so I hope that I will be able to carry a baby to full term. My doctor informed me there is a procedure to merge the two uteri, but that it is very dangerous and is not recommended except in cases of numerous miscarriages. The diagnosis is very scary, but I am glad that I know I have it so that I can receive the proper care when I decide to have children!

Hi Molly, nice to see another potential UD. I myself am in Limbo. Its susepcted that I have UD but Im worried incase its a full septum. I had an MRI and got teh results in today that say that I have definite two cervixes, a double womb which is fused and one kidney. Initially I thought great so its def. Uterus didelphys but now Im not so sure as the fact that their saying that two are fused together in my eyes still means possibly one womb with a septum right down the middle splitting it into two parts. Im going for a hysteroscopy next Thursday so they can look at the inside.

I have suffered two miscarriages this year but tests have revealed that I have a blood clotting disorder which is looking to be the cause so this can be treated. But before ttc again I need to get to the bottom of my womb anomaly. Good luck on getting to the bottom of your condition and keep us posted. Have you joined mullerian anomalies Yahoo forum? Thats great and had lots of people on there for quick replies.
