uterus didelphys help

About Me

Originally diagnosed with a vaginal septum at 19 (always knew something was amiss but didn't know what) and then discovered at 26 that I had uterus didelphys.  I have since had the septum removed to help with TTC.  Fortunately I have an incredible husband who now knows more about the female anatomy than most! :)  It was 'nice' to see another Kiwi who has joined the site as no one that I know here has this.

I didn't go to an acupuncturist that specialised in fertility. The two ones I've seen (one in UK, one in NZ) both seemed to cover fertility, and knew where to put the needles. They give you some herbal tea or tablets to take at the same time.

I just wanted to try all other avenues if possible before resorting to IVF, and as acupuncture worked, we haven't needed to go the IVF route. I will probably try acupuncture again if/when we try to conceive another baby.

Hey Alison - nice to hear from you. Apparently duplex kidneys are pretty common in conjuntion with UD. Like you mentioned, its all developing at the same time so the kidneys are often a little different :-) In terms of the acupuncture, did you go to someone who specialises in pregnancy? I have a fantastic gynaecologist and am currently seeing fertility specialists but am willing to try anything if it helps :-)

Hi Joanna. Wow, another kiwi!! If the statistics are correct, and UD is one in a million, there's only four of us in NZ with this. How "special?" are we :o)

Interesting that you have three kidneys. I haven't heard of duplex kidneys with uterine anomalies, but it would fit, as both those organs are formed at the same time.

Yes we conceived naturally, only after acupuncture though. Took a long time, but we got there.
